The Eliette and Herbert von Karajan Institute is your contact for all questions concerning Herbert von Karajan.  Each new edition or re-issue of material of any kind (photos, audio and video recordings, etc.) requires a licensing agreement with the Karajan Institute.

The license management is divided in:

  • Assignment of Rights for New Releases and Re-Issues

One of the key areas of the institute is the motivation of our media partners, and the advancement of new releases and re-issues in the field of audio and video recordings of Herbert von Karajan.

  • Licensing for Use of Photographs

Long years of experience have shown that photo usage requests must be dealt with very quickly, and the licensing process must be kept simple and straightforward.  The Karajan Institute therefore cooperates globally with a variety of photographers (especially the estates of S. Lauterwasser and G. Brandenstein) and photo agencies on a structured basis.  In this way we can ensure that an extraordinarily large number of photo requests for the acquisition of photo rights of Herbert von Karajan are kept centralized worldwide and exclusive - and can thus be handled quickly and above all very safely for you.

Please send your request concerning the evaluation of rights for existing Karajan repertoire or your photo inquiry directly to:
